25 YEARS OF GRACE - A TRIBUTE TO JEFF BUCKLEY'S CLASSIC ALBUM

Book Release Promo - Merri Cyr Photography

Concept, Art Direction and Animation

Renowned photographer Merri Cyr has photographed some of the most famous artists in the world, but she is perhaps best known for her work with Jeff Buckley. She is often referred to as his official photographer, having shot most of the more iconic images of Buckley from the beginning of his career up until his untimely death in 1997.  Their friendship and connection is evident in the power of her images, which were strengthened by the fact that she travelled on the road with the band, thereby able to capture him with an intimacy that most other photogtraphers simply could not. It is her work that was used for the covers of his 2 officially released studio albums.  2019 marked the 25th anniversary of his classic, critically acclaimed album Grace. To mark the occasion, Merri released a stunning, 256 page book showcasing Buckley's rise to fame. I had the honor of working with Merri to create this piece promoting the release of the book. It was truly a labor of love.

JEFF BUCKLEY  - EXPERIMENTS WITH PHOTO-SUPERIMPOSITION

Concept, Photoshop

Jeff Buckley used to play in a small Irish coffee house named Sin-e on St. Marks Place in NYC. His famous album, Jeff Buckley Live from Sin-e was recorded there in 1993. Sadly, the space is now occupied by the Holyland Market, ironically this is considered sacred ground to all Jeff Buckley fans. This is a concept and experiment exploring what it would be like to visit the very same site today, and when looking inside actually seeing a slice of history. By superimposing Merri Cyr's iconic photography over current-day images in the exact same spot where Jeff once stood and shot at similar angles, fans can experience what they would likely have seen if they were standing in the exact same spot any given Sunday nite in 1993.
